1 Is this gate safe for the top of stairs? −
Yes. This is a hardware-mounted gate, which is the type safety experts recommend for stairways. The wall brackets screw directly into your wall or doorframe, creating a fixed anchor point that will not shift under pressure. Unlike pressure-fit gates, there is no bottom bar to trip over at the top of the stairs.
2 Can I really open it with one hand? +
Absolutely. The locking mechanism is designed for single-handed use. Press and turn the lock to release, pull the mesh across, and click it into the receiving bracket. When you are carrying a baby, a laundry basket, or a cup of coffee, you will appreciate not needing two free hands.
3 Will the mesh sag or tear over time? +

Yes. The gate comes with all mounting hardware and a clear installation guide. You will need a drill, a screwdriver, and about 20 minutes. Mark the bracket positions, drill the pilot holes, screw the brackets in, and clip the gate cassette into place. No specialist tools or skills required.
